The Entry Level Penetration Testing (ELPT) certification is an introductory exam designed to evaluate a student’s ability to conduct internal network penetration tests. Participants have two days to complete the test and another two days to prepare a professional report.
Achieving Success in the ELPT Exam
To earn the ELPT certification, a student must:
- Utilize skills in Active Directory exploitation, web application penetration testing, network exploitation, post-exploitation techniques, and AV/EDR bypass.
- Simulate a real-life penetration test, beginning with external reconnaissance and vulnerability scanning, then moving to internal network penetration and exploitation.
- Finally, deliver a detailed, professionally written report demonstrating your findings and methodologies.
Exam Experience: Real-World Simulation
- Students must simulate a real-life penetration test, starting with the external network and then progressing to the internal network. This involves performing OSINT and reconnaissance on the external network, followed by vulnerability scanning. The same steps are then applied to the internal network, where students must successfully compromise the network. Finally, students are required to write a professional-grade report. This comprehensive approach aims to test whether students are ready to perform as penetration testers in a real job role.
Format of the Entry-Level Penetration Testing (ELPT) Exam
Students will access a custom environment for 48 hours to conduct external and internal penetration tests, demonstrating their skills and knowledge to earn the ELPT certification. They must provide proof of compromise, similar to a real-world client penetration test. Afterward, students have another 48 hours to create and submit a professional report to pass the certification test and achieve ELPT certification.
