ARTOC Certification Experience
My name is Uday, i’m 17 and i started cybersecurity from absolute zero about 1yr ago. No prior background, just picked it up and started grinding. In that 1yr i’ve completed 120+ labs on HackTheBox, finished 10 prolabs including the mini prolabs, and cleared my CRTP. All of that from scratch in under a year. Red teaming is pretty much all i’ve focused on since day one.
ARTOC is a proper course for anyone serious about red teaming. The lab setup alone puts it ahead of most things out there and the redirectors content is some of the best practical stuff i’ve come across. It’s not perfect, a bit more maldev would’ve been nice, but for a one time payment with lifetime labs it’s hard to argue with.

- No. ARTOC is an advanced certification course. Students are expected to already understand penetration testing, basic red team tradecraft, and Windows and Active Directory fundamentals.
What prior experience is recommended
- Students should be familiar with C2 frameworks, Active Directory concepts, basic cloud usage, and common lateral movement techniques before enrolling.
Does this course use real EDR targets
- Yes. ARTOC includes live EDR and defensive targets commonly found in enterprise environments. These targets behave as they would during real client engagements.
What defensive technologies are included
- The course includes enterprise EDR platforms, Windows built in defenses, application control mechanisms, and cloud and network telemetry controls.
Are the lab systems isolated
- Yes. Lab systems are air gapped or specially configured to prevent leakage or unintended interaction outside the environment. The labs are safe, controlled, and isolated.
How do students access the lab systems
- Students access targets using Guacamole and RDP. This provides browser based interaction while maintaining isolation and operational safety.
What Command and Control frameworks are used
- ARTOC provides access to Cobalt Strike and Havoc C2. Students may also bring and operate their own C2 framework.
Do students receive access to Cobalt Strike
- Yes. Students receive controlled access to Cobalt Strike within the lab environment.
Is Cobalt Strike locked down
- Yes. Access is intentionally restricted. Students have enough capability to learn, operate, and abuse the framework, but administrative access to the team server is prevented. Students may not bring their own Cobalt Strike license.
Can students modify profiles and create beacons
- Yes. Students can experiment with malleable profiles, generate working beacons, and test detection tradeoffs and stability.
Which version of Cobalt Strike is used
- The course uses current Cobalt Strike releases. New versions are tested before being introduced to ensure stability.
Is Havoc C2 supported
- Yes. Havoc C2 is fully supported and can be used alongside or instead of Cobalt Strike.
Can I bring my own Command and Control framework
- Yes. Students may bring and operate their own C2 within the lab environment.
Do I need my own AWS account
- Yes. Students must have an AWS account with administrative access to generate Access Key ID and Secret Access Key.
Does the portal track AWS cost
- Yes. The portal tracks live AWS compute cost and projected spend.
